The skin type is determined mainly based on the activity of the sebaceous glands and the ability of the collagen tissue to retain moisture. The skin type is affected by heredity, hormones, and age.
Normal skin
Normal skin has small pores through which sebum is constantly secreted in small amounts, making the skin feel soft and velvety. Normal skin has a suitable level of moisture and doesn’t feel tight.
Normal skin needs care with substances that provide deep moisture and protection from harmful external factors.
Suitable products for normal skin care
Combination skin
Combination skin is characterised by dry cheeks and an oily T-zone (forehead, nose, and chin). Because there are more pores in the T-zone, more sebum is secreted. When too much sebum is secreted, the skin starts to look shiny and breakouts may appear.
Combination skin needs moisturising care with added substances for balanced secretion of sebum and a mattifying effect.
Suitable products for combination skin care
Oily skin, problem skin
Oily skin is very shiny and tends to break out in blackheads and acne. Oily skin is most common during puberty, when the increased hormone activity causes an excessive secretion of sebum. The excess of sebum clogs the pores and causes breakouts.
Acne tends to appear on the face, especially forehead, nose, and chin (the T-zone), but sometimes also on the cheeks, back, and chest.
Oily skin needs system care to balance the secretion of sebum. It needs cleansing that won’t damage the skin’s protective layer, toning to balance the skin’s acidity, moisturising care with a mattifying effect, and acne coverage with antibacterial protection.
Suitable products for oily and problem skin.
Dry skin
Dry skin has very small pores that inhibit the secretion of sebum. The outer layer is thin and dry, sometimes with visibly expanded capillaries. It tends to be sensitive and ages more quickly and noticeably.
Dry skin needs a cream with ingredients that provide intensive moisture, restore oil production and protect from premature ageing.

Mature skin
Through the years, the process of natural collagen and elastin production starts to slow down, resulting in poor skin elasticity and wrinkles. Less sebum is secreted and cell renewal is slower, leading to patchy, dry skin. The subcutaneous layer grows thinner, causing the skin to become flabby.
Mature skin needs restorative care that stimulates the natural production of collagen and elastin fibres, thus strengthening the skin, improving its elasticity and smoothing wrinkles.
